Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but this will have to carry on for a while, as i'm due to get married.
Some people who read this blog will know a bit about me and my wife to be, Su or Kao, whichever you may know her as.
Yes, we get married on 4th August in Krabi, and i'm due to fly out this Sunday.
So please don't think i don't care about Thai football, i do, i just won't have as much time in the next few weeks.
I will have an update on all results and league tables when i'm back.
Regards
Adam

Well, BEC ceetainly lost a match they would have thought they should have won. But the Army are a strange team, they've picked up four points off the top two, but come a game against another team battling at the bottom then they will more than like fall over.
BEC, the team of stars with the biggest budget, they did this last year, losing games, they simply should win, if they want the title. Do they want it? It would seem not.
But who does want it? TOT and Chonburi could not be seperated in the top of the table clash, but this match does not get the headlines this week. That goes to Chula-Sinthana, who somehow came away with a 5-0 victory over relegation battlers Port Authority. PAT have recently been coming out of the early season slump, but this has just set them right back to were they started, and Chula were on earth did that come from?
Coke got a resounding win against Tobacco to keep there heads above water. But if you look at the league closely ( http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Thailand_Premier_League_2008&diff=225225043&oldid=225194203 ), it's all starting to get tight in every direction.
Do we have a Premier League champion in their? Tomorrow we have another top clash with PEA visiting Osotspa. It seems we currently have our top 6, Osotspa must win this to cement the top 6 spot, if they lose, it would seem they would be playing for 6th on their own. PEA certainly have it in them to gain victory and move upto 2nd.
In Division 2, the days action saw Bangkok Bravo once again score some points, they certainly don't want to get relegated into the Provincial Leagues. Lopburi, my favorites for the title, once again slipped up.
It seems, that most teams just can't string enough wins together to clear away from the pack, and that keeps every week just as exciting!

Peter Reid - National Team Manager
Peter Reid - National Team Manager:
So, what do we know of Peter Reid? Well he's here now, starting in August, I would have preferred the German Holger Osieck, but thats history now, so lets move on.
Yes, he's English, he's from the school of hard knock's. He can certainly look after himself.
These are many comments i've heard or read over the last few days. So what will this bring to
the national team?
Well, my personal opinion, he will closely knit them together, but only if the Thai FA well let him.
I'm sure he will get the respect of the players he chooses for his national squads, and this will be a good thing.
He will respect everyone, but the minute they lose his respect, they will be out.
There certainly won't be any walkoff the pitch moments under Reid.
Generally he is a tough man, but let's hope he is not too tough, but still tough enough to handle our stars and put them back down to earth afternetting hat-tricks against the likes of Macau,Nepal, etc.
What does he know of Thai football?
To me, nothing, yes he has done coaching clinics, but boy, i think i'm more qualified in Thai and Asian football than Reid
He has to get straight into things in Thailand, that includes, live with them, live with the culture, learn what they go through.
If he see's the daily lifes of the Thai people, i'm sure he can see through their eyes, just what a task there is ahead of him. I just hope he's not there for the money and sun.
To me, Peter, to prove that you wanted the job so much, you must get out and view the live domestic games.
To me, don't go to Europe every other week to watch Winothai et all in Belgium, ground yourself in the Domestic game, and help it become stronger.
Peter mustgain experience of Asian football quickly, if he doesn't he maybe packing his bags long before his 4 year contract expires.
His only other previous experience to date was in England where he has managed clubs such as Man City, Leeds United, Coventry City and Sunderland.
But the only time i really remember him, was when he was building Sunderland up, getting them into the Premier League where he really did bring football to
the fans in the North east who craved it.
FAT (Football Association of Thailand) Objectives:
World Cup Qualification in 2014
Thailand National 'Reserve Team'
World Cup Qualification
Come on, let's get real, lets be a player in Asia before we take on the world. Let's learn to walk before we run. I've often come across a saying, Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail.
Preperation is the key. Why talk of world cup when we have ASEAN Championship and Asian Cup before us, lets prepare for these first
National Reserve Team
Whats all this about? We need players for a first team to begin with. We need 20 strong lads at least and then a few that can come through year after year.
First of all FAT, lets create a structure to bring young lads through and playing in a strong domestic league before we start taking on the world with Thai A and Thai B
My Objectives:
Asian Cup Qualification
ASEAN Championship winners
Better Preperation
Use Thai Personnel
Asian Cup Qualification
We have a proud record of qualifying for the Asian Cup, but this time it might be harder than we think. Iran, Jordan and Singapore are no pushovers.
So lets seal qualification and build on it. I'm sick and tired of FAT wanting to get to a World Cup, when we are pushovers in Asia. Let's conquor Asia first.
Make the Asian Cup and get through the group stages before we have world cup ambitions.
ASEAN Championship Winners
Ok, so, maybe it's a lot in his first tournement, but i've said this before, we are the regional powerhouse, and we are sliding behind Singapore. Let's proove we are still number one in ASEAN and take the cupon home soil, or at least make a fight of it.
ASEAN Championship winners will surely stand us in good stead for the Asian Cup qualification campaign.
Better Preperation
Forget the tours of England to play against teams nobody in Thgailand as ever heard of. And start to focus on the task ahead.
If we have games in the Gulf, play friendlies against teams in the Gulf, and actually tour them, get use to what it feels like.
I know Peter will have his hands tied on where to go, but surely FAT can ask for his opinion.
Cancel meaningless games against Nepal and the like, it's much better just to have a training camp rather than win 7-0, what would happen if we got beat, the team would fall apart!
Use Thai Personnel
Ok, so every manager has his own little team of friends and coaches. I don't blame them, and i wouldn't be surprised if Peter uses another Englishman as his number 2. But please, also have a thought to the future. Bring in the best of the upcoming managers or former players, and let them closely watch and learn the ropes.
I'm talking about our very own Zico's and Sripans of this world. The experience will be vital for years to come so it's the time now to get them on board, if not, then we will loose this opportunity for the next 5-8 years or so.
End of the day, time well tell, like or hate the man, he's got a big job to do, so give him your support.

Singapore Cup / National Coach
Singapore Cup First Leg Result
Bangkok Uni 0 - 1 Young Lions
Devastating blow, conceding in the last minute. Return leg in a few days to get one over them
Bigger breaking news though, Peter Reid has been confirmed as the new national team manager. Best of luck Peter, i will bring my Druryfire Comment over the next day.

Osieck or Reid
The search for the new national coach has got underway, and it is expected to be announced within the next two weeks, to whom will become the new coach.
Peter Reid of England and German Holger Osieck have put their hats into the frame.
So it's looking like a two horse race. Who would i prefer?
Well, would be nice to see another English man put in charge, but what does Reid know about Asian football? Not a lot really, apart from the odd coaching course's in the Tesco Lotus car parks etc.
Osieck on the other hand has far more expereince, especially of Asian football, and won the Champions League just last year with Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan.
I'd personally like to see him in charge. Of course Reid, would use his English contacts and possibly even get the English FA to help on certain matters and bring relations between England and Thailand closer, possible Far East Tour for England anybody??
Osieck far outweighs Reid, especially in Asia and nternational experience after managing Canada aswell.
Should be a good contest to see who gets it, but i expect it will come to who wants less money to walk away with the job. Either way, i'd like to see both coaches bring something to the game, rather than just come for money.

Should be a good contest to see who gets it, but i expect it will come to who wants less money to walk away with the job. Either way, i'd like to see both coaches bring something to the game, rather than just come for money.

Singapore Cup Quarter-Final Result - 7th July
Woodlands Wellington 0 - 0 Tobacco Monopoly (1-1 on aggregate)
Woodlands advance 4-2 on penalties.
Well, all that could seperate them was penalties, unfortunatly it was Tobacco on the wrong end. There adventure to Singapore is now over.
We now have Bangkok University left, so hopefuly they can progress to the semi-finals and reap revenge over Woodlands.
Tobacco will be back, let's hope this does not harm their Premier League season.

It's approaching the middle of the campaign in the Premier League. Who really look's like they want to win it?
Chonburi had a morale boasting victory today with their biggest result of the season, whilst BEC once again wobbled and got beat in games they really should win if they want to be crowned champions.
Nakhon Pathom got a much needed victory today, a first in a while and a game that was a true 6-point. The Army were starting to gain a bit of momentum, but after this defeat they will be devastated. They have to pick themselves up again for next Wednesday in what is now becoming a congested fixture list for them.
Finally, in Division 2, Bangkok Bravo picked up their first victory, will they start to raise up the table, i doubt it, but it's possible they could have a good second half of the season.
Si Saket get a worthy mention after thumping the Airforce Training College 5-1 and moves them up to second in the table, could they gain promotion this year?

Asian Cup 2011 Qualifiers
Thailand have been drawn with:
Iran
Jordan
Singapore
Two great dery games to come up against Singapore, but tough strugles away from home against Jordan and Iran.
I feel ourselves and Singapore will cancel each other out and possibly destroy both are hopes of qualification.
Really needed 6 points against the fourth seeds, which was Singapore.
The draw could have been much kinder, but this is it and we will have to deal with it.
First matchdays kick off on 14th January.
I will bring the schedule here when it's known.
